Hello, I’m Rowan.
I’m a blogger, cat lover and book addict. I live in Brighton (well, Hove actually) with my husband and love of my life, He Who Shall Be Named (HWSNBN). He’s a neat-freak, I think life is too short to tidy when there are books to be read; but somehow we make it work. I am currently expecting a baby. I am a little bit excited about this.
This blog is my teeny tiny boat on the vast sea of the internet. I started this blog in 2008 because I was bored at work. Over time it’s metamorphosed into part therapy/part record of the important moments in my life from my wedding, to losing my best friend, from giving up my day job, to struggling with infertility. As a Virgo I am obsessed with ways to make my life easier, better and more fulfilling. I often set myself projects and blog about the results including trying 30 hair styles in 30 days to raise money for charity, writing a life list, and trying veganuary.
My dream is to one day own a library, but holding our wedding reception in a library will have to do for now.
In the ‘real’ world, I work as a counsellor and I love what I do. Through training and working as a counsellor I’ve learnt a lot about other people, but even more about myself. I am not perfect. I am flawed human being who fucks up a lot but I am still OK and if I am then you are too I believe life is hard but that there are moments of beauty and grace even in our darkest moments. Although I like writing blogs that make people laugh. I LOVE writing blogs that make people cry.

Hello, Rowan. I read some of your posts. I find them so funny! I am a Filipino and I write for a living. If you have published books, kindly tell me so, I’ll try to find one and borrow it hahahaha! really, I’ll buy your book.
I came across your blog because I am also planning a book-themed wedding for my fiance. Ours will be on 2-14-2014. Here in the Philippines, Catholic weddings can only be held in churches. So I can’t hold mine in a library. But the wedding reception will be (I really hope it will happen) at the National Printing Office that houses the Office of the National Book Development Board. My fiance told me it’s too far. It’s about an hour’s drive (traffic included) from the church. That’s the only con about that venue. Ugh!
Hello Beverly, thanks so much for the comment and for reading my blog. One of my best friends from University is from the Philippines too. Good luck planning your book themed wedding and I hope you can get married at the National Printing Office. I googled it, so cool. Let me know how everything goes,
